Online inspiration seminar on the applied use of Reference Budgets

The use of reference budgets in applied domains: what can we gain and learn from each other?

Timing: Thursday 16 June 2022, from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm (CET)

The European Platform on Reference budgets is organising an online inspiration seminar on the use of reference budgets in applied domains in Europe.
During the seminar, speakers from four different countries (the Netherlands, Belgium, the United Kingdom and Finland) will present how they use reference budgets in applied domains such as credit assessment, minimum income and social security and policy evaluation. These short and practical presentations will be followed by a short overview on the general use of reference budgets in Europe and the tools using reference budgets. We close the seminar with a brainstorming session during which you can express your own ideas and interests regarding the (further) use of reference budgets in your country / organization. The detailed program can be found here:

Reference budgets are priced baskets of goods and services that express what is necessary for social participation. Although different methods and approaches are used to construct such reference budgets in Europe, they nevertheless all aim to identify what people need to live a decent life and be able to participate in modern societies. They can also be viewed as an additional indicator on poverty and social inequalities.
